First try to colour the blank pictures, kéeping an eye on the blank pictures ,keeping an eye on the painted one .then draw the same composition on separate paper keeping the same in front of you. At last keep aside this book and try to draw and paint the composition from your memory. Now, compare I am sure, you will improve very quickly. For pastel colours, start from light or shades and that too by mixing two different colours. For examples in a picture where top portion is yellow and bottom portion in green; rub yellow stick tirst, then rub the green stick.
